The Hungarian government has congratulated Donald Trump after he was elected the 45th president of the United States of America.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán became one of the first leaders to congratulate the president-elect after posting a message online, “what a great news. Democracy is still alive," PM Orbán wrote.
Meanwhile, Peter Szijjártó, minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, wrote that the American people have made their decision and, after a remarkable campaign, democracy has emerged stronger.
The minister said that in both the world economy and world politics a new era has begun – one which poses historic challenges for the whole world. To address these challenges new and courageous approaches, new and innovative policies will be needed.
Hungary is open to cooperation, Ministed Szijjártó underlined.
