Hungary keeps World Cup dream alive after beating Latvia

Hungary's 2-0 win over Latvia sees the team rise to third place in category B and keeps their dreams alive for qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2018

Hungary has kept their FIFA World Cup 2018 dream alive by beating Latvia 2-0 in the qualifying rounds of the tournament, elevating the team to third place in category B.

In last night's thrilling clash, Ádám Gyurcsó gave the Magyars a ninth-minute lead, and Ádám Szalai scored the second goal in the 77th minute.

The team's win gives Hungary their first triumph in international football since they beat Austria in the Euro 2016 championships.

Football fans are now hoping the Hungarian team will upset either Switzerland or Portugal in the remaining games to firmly secure their place in the early stages of the World Cup tournament.

During the match, Balázs Dzsudzsák made his 85th appearance for the national team, the same number that Hungary’s legend Ferenc Puskas achieved during his prolific career.
