Hungary will host the qualifying events for both the Fencing and Pentathlon at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Hungary won the right on Sunday to host the World Fencing Championships and the World Modern Pentathlon Championships in 2019.
Hungary was awarded the tournaments at the respective congresses of the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) and the International Fencing Federation (FIE), according to MTI.
The 2019 tournament will be Budapest’s sixth time hosting the World Modern Pentathlon Championships, having already hosted the event in 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999 and 2008.
Budapest will be hosting the World Fencing Championships for the eighth time, the last world fencing tournament was held in the Hungarian capital in 2013.
