Hungary's armed forces extend participation in EU's Somalia mission

Hungary will fulfill its obligation as an EU member and contribute to strengthening the community’s security and defense policy

The Hungarian armed forces' deployment on the European Union's Somalia mission has been extended until the end of 2018, It has been revealed.

In the latest edition of the Magyar Közlöny official gazette, it states that the participation of the army in the mission has been extended into 2018.

Hungary will fulfill its obligation as an EU member and contribute to strengthening the community’s security and defense policy by sending up to ten soldiers to work in the EU’s Somalia mission set up for training local security forces.

The EU decided in February 2010 to launch EUTM Somalia and Hungary has participated in it since the beginning.
