Hungary's exports increased by 8 percent in December

In December 2016, the export volume increased by 8 percent and the import volume by 7.7 percent

Hungary's import and export volumes have increaed by 8 percent in just one year, it has been announced.

According to the Central Statistics Office (KSH), in December 2016, the export volume increased by 8 percent and the import volume by 7.7 percent, and the surplus decreased by 58 million EUR compared to the same month of the previous year. In 2016, the external trade surplus was 9.9 billion EUR.

In December 2016, the value of exports amounted to 7.3 billion EUR ( 2,265 billion HUF), and imports amounted to 6.7 billion EUR (2,085 billion HUF) and the external trade surplus was 579 million EUR (180 billion HUF).

Compared to December 2015, the value of exports increased by 7.6 percent and that of imports by 9.3 percent in EUR terms.

The HUF price level of external trade in goods decreased by 1.0 percent in exports and increased by 0.8 percent in imports. The terms of trade worsened by 1.8 percent. The forint exchange rate appreciated by 0.6 percent against the euro and depreciated by 2.4 percent against the dollar.
