Hungary's 'On Body and Soul' has won the prestigious Sydney Film Prize in Australia this weekend, it has been announced.
The Sydney prize is a highly respected international award which looks at many different genres. The movie won a 50,000 EUR cash prize for 'audacious, cutting-edge and courageous' film during the closing night awards ceremony on Sunday.
Hungarian director Ildiko Enyedi won the highly acclaimed Golden Bear earlier this year for the same film.
On Body and Soul tells the story of two people working at a slaughterhouse in Budapest who discover that they have the same dreams at night and they attempt to make them come true.
”It was such an amazingly strong competition. It's marvelous that such a film can move so many people, it gives me so much hope in cinema and in human communication,” Enyedi told the press pack afterwards.
