Hungary’s trade surplus has been revised upwards to 596 million euros in May

The surplus was increased from 577 million euros in the first reading published early in July

Hungary’s trade surplus has been revised upwards to 596 million euros in May, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) has announced.

According to MTI, the surplus was increased from 577 million euros in the first reading published early in July.

Figures show that imports rose by an annual 2.9 percent to 8.484 billion euros and exports edged up 0.2 percent to 9.080 billion euros.

The trade surplus among machinery and vehicle makers came to 938 million euros in May. Food, drink and tobacco makers also had a 155 million euro trade surplus.

However, Hungary reported a 408 million euro trade deficit in the energy sector and a 118 million euro deficit for manufactured goods.

For the period of January-May, Hungary had an overall 3.220 billion euro trade surplus.
