János Bóka tapped as minister for EU affairs

Among other EU affairs, Bóka will be responsible for cooperation with Hungary’s allies and other ministries during Hungary’s preparation for taking over the rotating presidency in the second half of 2024.

János Bóka, the state secretary for European Union affairs of the justice ministry, has been tapped as minister for EU affairs from August 1.

Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, said on Monday that among other EU affairs, Bóka will be responsible for cooperation with Hungary’s allies and other ministries during Hungary’s preparation for taking over the rotating presidency in the second half of 2024. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will propose to President Katalin Novák to appoint Bóka from August 1, he added.
