Justice Minister: Government will protect Hungary and Europe’s borders

"We will protect Hungary and the European borders, and we will bring help where it is most needed,” Minister Varga said.

Justice Minister Judit Varga said the government will protect both Hungary and Europe’s borders and will provide help where it is needed.

Speaking on Facebook in connection with the issue of migration being back on the European Union’s agenda due to developments in Afghanistan, Minister Varga noted that Hungary had always argued that it also needed to look out for the interests of Europe and could not provide help by bringing trouble over to the continent. “We believe it’s not a human right for someone to once get up on the other side of the world and decide to live in another part of the world from now on and thus we would have to let him or her in without any control,” Minister Varga said. This is why the government decided to protect the Schengen borders in line with the treaties. Other countries have been incapable of doing this, yet Hungary has received no recognition, only criticism, she added. “Nevertheless, we will endure, we will protect Hungary and the European borders, and we will bring help where it is most needed,” Minister Varga said.
