László Trócsányi nominated for head of Constitutional Court post

Trócsányi was the justice minister in the third and fourth cabinet of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán between June 2014 and June 2019.

Fidesz’ group leader Máté Kocsis said on Facebook on Monday that the ruling Fidesz and Christian Democrats (KDNP) will nominate László Trócsányi, the head of the Hungarian Lawyers Association, to fill the post of the head of the Constitutional Court. The nomination was announced after the vote scheduled in parliament on the election of Tamás Sulyok, the top court’s outgoing president, as Hungary’s next head of state. Trócsányi, who recently announced that he is stepping down as a Fidesz MEP, was justice minister in the third and fourth cabinet of Viktor Orbán between June 2014 and June 2019.
