More than 10,000 refugees entered Hungary on Wednesday, according to official figures.
The national police headquarters confirmed that 5,133 people crossed into Hungary directly from Ukraine on Wednesday, while another 5,322 from Ukraine crossed from Romania. Police issued temporary residence permits valid for 30 days to 475 people. Holders of such permits must contact a local immigration office near their place of residence within 30 days to apply for permanent documents. Budapest police received 333 refugees, 147 children among them, by train. Refugees arriving on special train services at Kőbánya felső railway station, in eastern Budapest, were taken by bus to the BOK sports and events center serving as a humanitarian transit point.
