More than 28,000 students participate in government-subsidized summer jobs scheme

Businesses in the farm, tourism and catering sectors are eligible for subsidies covering 75% of payroll for students working up to eight hours daily.

Sándor Czomba, state secretary for employment policy, has confirmed that more than 28,000 students are participating in a government-subsidized summer jobs scheme this year. Czomba told public current affairs channel M1 that the government had earmarked 3.5 billion forints (EUR 9.0m) for the scheme this year. Under the programme, local councils are eligible for subsidies covering 100% of student payroll costs for two months, although work hours are limited to six a day. Businesses in the farm, tourism and catering sectors are eligible for subsidies covering 75% of payroll for students working up to eight hours daily.
