NBH joins the Advisory Council of the Energy Efficient Mortgages Initiative

The central bank expects the scheme to help increase on average the disposable income for borrowers and potentially lead to lower credit risk in the banking sector.

The National Bank of Hungary (NBH) has joined the Advisory Council of the Energy Efficient Mortgages (EEM) Initiative.

According to MTI, the initiative is aimed at delivering a mortgage financing mechanism incentivizing borrowers to improve the energy efficiency of their properties or to acquire highly energy efficient properties.

The central bank expects the scheme to help increase on average the disposable income for borrowers and potentially lead to lower credit risk in the banking sector, and at the same time mitigate greenhouse gas emissions related to properties.
