New car sales have skyrocketed in Hungary signaling a strengthening economy.
According to carinfo.hu, sales rose by 20.4 percent between January to December last year, amounting to 116,265 cars sold. New car registrations climbed 11 percent from 2016 to 10,832 by December 2017.
The most popular brand of vehicle purchased in Hungary in 2017 was Suzuki, followed closely by Ford and in third place Škoda.
Motorcycle registrations rose 3.3 percent to 2,286 last year, bus registrations also increased by 55.7 percent.
Experts state that the rise in consumer car sales signals a strengthening economy with Hungarians having more disposable cash for big ticket items.
