New government, new faces: Prof. Dr. Miklós Kásler

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán recently revealed the composition of his fourth government. While some ministers will continue to serve in their previous roles, we’ll be seeing some new faces as well. One is the Director General of National Institute Oncology, Prof. Dr. Miklós Kásler, who’ll serve as minister of Human Capacities in the new cabinet.

Prof. Dr. Miklós Kásler is a renowned expert in his field. He has held more than 500 medical and oncological lectures all over the world, has written 18 specialist books, seven books, had almost 300 scientific articles published in Hungarian and international journals, and prepared the television and book series titled Nemzeti Nagyvizit (‘National Great Visit’) with the assistance of several well-known scientists, writers and scholars.

He is a doctor of the Hungarian Scientific Academy and Ordinary member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. Professor Kásler has also received many national and international honors, including the Hungarian Order of Merit Commander's Cross with Star, civil division (2015) and the Széchenyi Prize (2018). His life and career was documented in a film titled: “To always stay human…” (“Ember lenni mindig…”) in 2012.

Professor Kasler said that as minister of Human Capacities he will continue to support families, improve the quality of healthcare, continue to promote a value-based education system, provide better grounding for young people and strengthen a society based on work - all to improve demographic indicators.

He added that in such subversive times in which we are now living, it’s essential for the nation to be enforced with values which helps it to have stable footing, and he will work to represent those classical, national and Christian values. However, he emphasized that it will go hand-in-hand with digitalization and technical innovation.

Minister Kasler is married and has a son.
