New solar power plant opens in Paks

Built at a cost of 9 billion HUF (28.5m EUR), the new solar plant will have an output of 20.6 megawatts, and will serve over 8,500 households

A new solar power plant has been inaugurated just a few kilometers from the Paks nuclear power station.

Built at a cost of 9 billion HUF (28.5m EUR), the new solar plant will have an output of 20.6 megawatts, and will serve over 8,500 households.

Péter Kaderják, state secretary at the innovation and technology ministry, said the new plant makes Paks “not only the center of nuclear energy production in Hungary but that of renewable energies, too”.

The MVM Group has financed 65 percent of the project from its own coffers, and used European Union funding to cover the rest.
