Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said a new law on secondary education passed by the Ukrainian parliament on Thursday should help improve the country’s relations with Hungary.
Kuleba said on Twitter that the legislative body had passed the “long-awaited” law which would “help us overcome problems of the past” just as he was holding talks with Hungary’s ambassador to Kiev István Íjgyártó. “Now both countries must take steps forward,” he said.
MTI highlights that Kuleba also welcomed the interest expressed by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in visiting Kiev, noting that both co-chair the Ukrainian-Hungarian intergovernmental committee, which has not been convened in seven years.
The deputy PM said he has invited Minister Szijjártó to visit Ukraine in February, adding that he wanted the two countries to move forward on trade, regional projects and investment.
