Passenger numbers at Liszt Ferenc International reached 266,481 in June, tripling from a month earlier as travel restrictions eased amid increasing Covid immunisation coverage.
Budapest Airport said on Thursday that passenger numbers jumped 257 percent year-on-year in the second quarter and reached 603,585 for the first half. Airline capacity nearly doubled in Q2, while the number of seats on flights to some popular destinations rose as much as 500 percent. Passenger numbers averaged around 10,000 a day in June and are “expected to grow significantly” in July and August. Passengers could fly to 90 destinations from Liszt Ferenc in June, still well below the 153 offered before the pandemic, but that number is expected to climb to 120 in the coming months.
