Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has called for a Western Balkan enlargement of NATO and the European Union to improve security measures.
The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in the Parliament Building in Budapest on Thursday.
The meeting was also attended by Péter Szijjártó, minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and István Simicskó, minister of Defense.
During the discussions, Hungary stated that the European wing of Europe’s defense system – the North Atlantic Treaty Organization – must be strengthened as soon as possible.
The prime minister said that Hungary is committed to implementing the measures needed for this to happen and drew the Secretary General’s attention to the fact that the integration of Western Balkan countries into the European Union and NATO must be accelerated, as this is the only way to guarantee our region’s security.
