PM Orbán: Government intends to buy back Liszt Ferenc International Airport

If reacquired by the state, the airport could undergo developments that would increase its value, and this way the value of the whole of Budapest.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said the Hungarian government intends to buy back Liszt Ferenc International Airport “and this could happen at any moment”.

“It is only right if our sole major international airport is in Hungarian ownership, so buying it back is the correct thing to do and the economy is strong enough for us to do that,” PM Orbán told public media in Šupljak (Ludas), in northern Serbia, on Monday, adding that the purchase “could be concluded at any moment”. If reacquired by the state, the airport could undergo developments that would increase its value, and this way the value of the whole of Budapest, “by two or three classes”, PM Orbán said.
