According to a post on his Facebook page, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán spoke with Hunor Kelemen, the head of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ), by phone on Saturday afternoon.
"I made it clear that we do not intend to influence the Romanian presidential election in any way," PM Orbán said.
PM Orbán said the Hungarian government considers RMDSZ's position decisive, adding that on matters concerning the policy towards Hungarians beyond the borders, the guiding principle was the interests of the ethnic Hungarian community of Transylvania.
"We are working with Romania's leaders to advance the life and survival of the ethnic Hungarian community of Transylvania," the prime minister said.
