PM Orbán: “Hungarians beyond the borders have the most at stake in this election”

“Everyone across the country understands what is at stake," he said.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Debrecen, Prime Minister Orbán thanked RMDSZ President Hunor Kelemen for attending the event and stated: “If anyone has a great stake in this election, it is Hungarians beyond the borders.” He added that these communities require a strong national government to safeguard their interests.

Addressing supporters, Prime Minister Orbán said his nationwide campaign experience showed a clear trend. “From the smallest villages to the largest cities, it has become clear to me that everyone knows what is at stake,” he said, adding that what began as a “silent majority” has now become a “loud majority.”

He warned against financial commitments linked to Ukraine, stating that European Union plans involve borrowing funds to support Ukraine that member states would ultimately have to repay. “It is clear that this will not be repaid, so the burden will fall on the member states,” he said, stressing that Hungary must reject such arrangements.

Prime Minister Orbán also recalled Hungary’s response at the start of the war. “We opened our borders, we helped those in need, we stand clean before the Lord,” he said, adding: “But they cannot ask us to destroy Hungary for their sake.”

He cautioned that ending access to cheap Russian energy would threaten protected fuel prices and utility cost reductions, arguing that such policies would place a heavy burden on Hungarian families.

The prime minister also raised concerns about foreign influence, calling it “unacceptable” that external intelligence actors could be involved in domestic political processes. He stated that Hungary must defend its sovereignty and decision-making.

Highlighting domestic achievements, he pointed to support measures for families and young people, including tax exemptions and loan programs. He reaffirmed that these policies would continue in the next cycle.

Prime Minister Orbán concluded by urging mobilization ahead of the vote. “We need three million votes to keep Hungary safe,” he said, calling on supporters to engage others and ensure participation, adding that “only Fidesz is the safe choice.”
