PM Orbán: Hungary has started preparations for EU presidency

The prime minister announced that Hungary has started preparations for the EU's rotating presidency in 2024.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and members of his cabinet participated in a meeting on Wednesday to prepare the ministers for chairing the configurations under Hungary’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2024.

The prime minister said Hungary has sufficient experience and is well-prepared with the government preparing to hold the presidency for the second time, which is unparalleled in Europe. “We are ready to tackle the challenges faced by Europe in a coordinated and effective manner,” PM Orbán said. The prime minister thanked officials of the Council’s General Secretariat, Director-General for General and Institutional Policy Didier Seeuws and Director-General for Communication and Information Agnieszka Bartol for accepting the invitation to attend the two-day meeting and sharing their experiences with the Hungarian ministers. Hungary held its first EU presidency in January-June 2011.
