Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will head to Brussels today for the first European Union - Gulf Cooperation Council summit.
Charles Michel, the European Council's president, and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the current president of the GCC, will co-chair the meeting.
The aim is for the EU to forge a closer partnership with the GCC and its member states, seen as "geostrategic partners" amid the current geopolitical upheavals.
PM Orbán will participate in a European Council meeting in Brussels on Thursday and Friday, with Ukraine, the Middle East, competitiveness, migration and foreign affairs high on the agenda.
