PM Orbán: We have won a great victory – a victory so great that you can see it from the moon, certainly from Brussels

In a speech delivered in front of a celebrating crowd in Budapest, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán thanked everyone who supported him and his governing Fidesz-KDNP coalition in achieving this great victory.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has appeared in front of the Fidesz election hub at the Bálna in Budapest. "The whole world has seen that Hungarians love their country," he said.

“Good fun, man’s work, good fighting with you all. Thanks to everyone for what you put into this win today, thanks to everyone for the good wishes and for those who prayed for us,” PM Orbán began his celebratory speech tonight in Budapest.

“We have won a great victory – a victory so great that you can see it from the moon, certainly from Brussels,” the prime minister added. According to him, his government will continue to do their utmost to deserve the trust they have received. “The greater the victory, the greater the need for modesty, and let's face it tonight, there's reason to be modest,” PM Orbán said, thanking the more than 100,000 volunteers who have worked hard so that tonight we can celebrate together.

In the prime minister’s view, tonight his alliance showed that it is possible to win “every possibility of victory.”

“We won in 2010 under the old electoral system, we won in 2014 when we were called one by one. We won in 2018 when there was a partial coalition and in 2022 when everyone joined forces against us,” PM Orbán said, adding that “God only knows how we can win the most at a time when they are ganging up on us.”

Closing with the takeaway from today’s election, PM Orbán said that “we did not let the failed past return, we defended Hungary’s independence and freedom, its peace and security, and we protected our children and families."
