Premium car sharing service kicks off in Budapest in April

From the end of April, city dwellers can “borrow” premium BMW or MINI models by using an app at any time

DriveNow's premium car sharing service will begin operating in Hungary at the end of April, with 240 BMW and MINI models, including 40 electric BMWs.

In addition to the standard per minute and daily rate, new premium cars will also be available for hire with hourly rates (3, 6 and 9 hours). Depending on the model, car rental rates vary between 99 and 129 HUF per minute, but with hourly packages, the cost per minute can be reduced to as much as 62 HUF.

“Budapest is the first city in the exciting Central and Eastern European region where we start our service. We see the need for sustainable and flexible mobility in this modern and fast-growing city," said Oliver Repert, CEO of the company.

The company says that shared, modern, environmental-friendlier means of transport around the world will reduce the number of private cars in cities: a community car can replace up to eight privately owned cars in a city.
