Red Bull Air Race World Championship returns to Budapest this weekend

The pilots will battle it out for the championships by flying up and down the Danube between Parliament and Margaret bridge in timed laps

The Red Bull Air Race World Championship is returning to Budapest for the eleventh time this weekend, June 23rd and 24th.

The pilots will battle it out for the championships by flying up and down the Danube between Parliament and Margaret bridge in timed laps. Spectators are hoping for a hot weekend this year after the weather at past shows has proved problematic.

It has not yet been confirmed if Hungary's very own Péter Besenyei will be taking part in a side act event as he did last year, but he's listed on the Redbull website as one of their key pilots.

Besenyei won the very first race, and the first season title, in 2003, and he was a pioneering force in developing the sport before retiring from the World Championship at the end of 2015.
