Rio 2016: Danuta Kozák wins Hungary's seventh Olympic gold

Hungary is currently ranked 12th in the overall Olympic medal table with seven gold medals, three silver and four bronze

Danuta Kozák has bagged Hungary's seventh Olympic gold medal by winning the kayak 500m individual today in Rio. The 29-year-old athlete has also made Hungarian history by becoming a four-times Olympic champion in her discipline.

Kozák won gold with a strong lead, beating Denmark’s Emma Jørgensen by almost two seconds, while Lisa Carrington of New Zealand picked up the silver medal.

Kozák won her first gold in Rio on Tuesday when she secured first place with her partner in the women’s kayak double 500m. Together with her latest victory, and the two golds won in London 2012, she has now become a record breaking four-times Olympic champion.
