Rome has pulled out of its 2024 Olympic bid, leaving Budapest to battle it out with Paris and Los Angeles to host the Games.
Rome’s new mayor, Virginia Raggi, has decided to withdraw the city’s backing for a bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games, Reuters confirms.
Bidding for the games began in 2015, with five candidate cities originally in contention. Along with Rome's departure, Hamburg withdrew their bid on account of a referendum held on November 29, 2015.
The final decision will be made at the 130th International Olympic Committee Session in Lima, Peru, in September 2017.
