The government’s international spokesman has said migration is not an emotional or a political issue but a legal one, and it is as if Europe had forgotten that lesson.
Following a visit to the US-Mexico border, Zoltán Kovács, the state secretary for international communications and relations, said the physical barrier at the border and arrests of illegal migrants there had existed for decades.
“The European Union also has borders, the Schengen border in particular,” he said. “The disputes we’ve had in Europe over the past five years [over border issues] … would not have arisen here in this country or on this border.”
According to MTI, the state secretary said borders must be protected. Boundaries are there so that people who cross them abide by all laws.
Kovács will meet Andrew Friedman, president of the orthodox Jewish Congregation Bais Naftoli, and California Republican Party president Jessica Patterson, as well as local Hungarians during his visit.
