State Secretary Zoltán Kovács said Hungary will not send weapons to Ukraine but is among the first countries to urge for peace.
In an interview with Italian channel RAI on Sunday, Kovács told Lucia Annunziata that war never represented a solution but the conflict there concerned not only human rights but also international relations. “Hungary stands on the side of peace, similarly to all countries neighboring Ukraine,” he said. Hungary supports all decisions by NATO and the European Union but will refuse to send weapons because it keeps national interests in view. The war is a cause of great concern for the Hungarian government which considers the security of Hungarian ethnic minority in Ukraine a priority issue, he added.
