State Secretary: Migration should not be managed but stemmed

The Hungarian government’s position is that the fate of Hungarians should be determined by Hungarians only.

State Secretary Tamás Menczer said that under section 7 of the European Union’s integration and inclusion action plan, immigrants “should be given voting rights”, and they should be involved in political decision making. Menczer said in a video published on Facebook on Saturday that the Hungarian government’s position is that “the fate of Hungarians should be determined by Hungarians only”, adding that such decisions “must not be made by Brussels or migrants”. Earlier in the week, Menczer slammed other components of the action plan, and voiced the government’s position that “migration should not be managed but stemmed, while aid should be provided where the problems arise”.
