The government has granted a 12,000 HUF reduction on utility bills in the second quarter of 2018.

János Lázár, the minister heading the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that 12,000 HUF will be credited to the accounts of households heating with gas or using district heating.

He also confirmed that pensioners will receive Erzsébet vouchers worth 10,000 HUF again, and the value of this initiative is some 30 billion HUF. He said the Hungarian Postal Service will start delivering the vouchers in the next few weeks.

He pointed out that that this is the third time pensioners are receiving Erzsébet vouchers worth 10,000 HUF. “We are thinking in terms of a multi-generational country where everyone is responsible for everyone," he said.

The minister said that any opposition politicians who look down on and attack these measures look down on pensioners and those living in poor circumstances.

He also revealed that if the Fidesz-KDNP alliance wins the parliamentary elections, women will continue to have the possibility to retire after 40 years in employment. Should the elections have a different outcome, the fate of this program is uncertain, he added.
