The defense ministry has announced that twice as many soldiers are helping coronavirus protection efforts during the second wave of the pandemic compared to the first wave in the spring.
More than 1,100 soldiers have been assigned to help 93 hospitals by performing security, logistics and administrative tasks across the country. Troops have also been assigned in larger numbers to help police in patrolling streets and enforcing the observation of curfew rules and protection regulations. They have also been assigned to perform security tasks at 22 government institutions and diplomatic missions.
