Two new security checkpoints to be built at Budapest Airport

Construction will be completed before the summer peak, bringing the total number of security corridors at the airport to 18.

Budapest Airport will set up two new security checkpoints in Terminal 2B to speed up the mandatory check-in time for passengers.

The new checkpoints will also be equipped with state-of-the-art automated systems that return empty trays to the front of the line, further speeding up the process.

According to Hungarian Insider, construction will be completed before the summer peak, bringing the total number of security corridors at the airport to 18.

Thanks to a technical solution introduced in October, one of the first in Europe, passengers can now leave their electronic equipment in their hand luggage, allowing them to be screened and checked without placing them in a separate tray. This procedure was tested by professionals for five months prior to implementation and will also be introduced at the two new checkpoints.

The new security screening process has also been approved by the international Airport Service Quality survey (ASQ). Their criteria includes passing speed and thoroughness of security screening, the courtesy of the controller staff, and the passengers' sense of security.
