The presidents of the four Visegrad Group countries have agreed to support Serbia's accession to the EU and agree that European Union cohesion and farm funds should be maintained in the 2021-2027 budget cycle.
Following a V4 Presidents meeting in Lány, near Prague, on Thursday, President János Áder said that it was agreed that cohesion and agricultural funds “should not be changed and we should have the same resources as before”. It is in the interest of both the EU and “new” EU member states to close the development gap between them, the president said.
The issue of accession of Western Balkan countries to the EU was also discussed during Thursday's talks. "I am pleased to announce that all Presidents unanimously agreed to support the accession of Serbia to the European Union and are ready to provide maximum assistance to achieve this," said Czech President Miloš Zeman at a press conference.
