Veronika Wynne-Hughes aims to be first Hungarian to ski from edge of Antarctica to South Pole

Veronika Wynne-Hughes is aiming to be the first Hungarian to ski from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole, is has been revealed.

According to Wynne-Hughes, she will attempt the challenge in November of this year, and will hopefully conclude in January 2018.

She told news channel M1, that she plans to cover around 1,140 kms solo, pulling her possessions on a sled during the day and will sleep in a tent at night. She will be supported by doctors stationed on Antarctica and will contact them every day to report on her condition and provide her coordinates.

Wynne-Hughes, pictured above on her Facebook page, has a Hungarian mother and British father, revealed she has been preparing for the attempt by training in Norway. She has already spent 30 million HUF (100,000 EUR) to gain the necessary permits, helped by the support of sponsors, and hopes to be the first Hungarian to complete the challenge.
