PM Orbán holds talks with French President Emmanuel Macron during summit of the EU and Western Balkans

The prime minister also discussed topical European affairs at bilateral talks with leaders of three conservative parties that are members of the European People’s Party (EPP)

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron before the summit of the EU and the Western Balkans countries in Sofia, according to official sources.

Bertalan Havasi, the prime minister’s press chief, said that during the meeting the leaders discussed the most important topical issues of European politics and agreed to continue and further intensify the bilateral dialogue between the two countries.

The prime minister also discussed topical European affairs at bilateral talks with leaders of three conservative parties that are members of the European People’s Party (EPP).

PM Orbán held talks with Silvio Berlusconi, the former Italian prime minister and leader of the Forza Italia Party, an “old-time friend and supporter of Fidesz”.

The prime minister also met Sybrand van Haersma Buma, the leader and MEP of the Dutch Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), to conclude that they share views on basic social values and challenges facing the EU including migration. They agreed that Europe’s future lies in preserving the continent’s Christian culture., according to MTI.

PM Orbán also met Hristijan Mickoski, the leader of Macedonia’s VMRO-DPMNE party, to discuss the European integration of the western Balkans. During this meeting, the prime minister reaffirmed that Hungary supports Macedonia’s soonest possible accession to the EU.
