Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has spoken about the importance of building Eurasia during a meeting of central bank governors in Budapest on Friday,
The prime minister also highlighted the strengthening of economic relations between China and the Central and Eastern European and Balkan countries.
PM Orbán said a new multipolar world economy is emerging and China is preeminent among its new centers of power. He said the Central and Eastern European region is also an emerging center of power and over the next five to ten years it will be the economic engine of Europe.
The prime minister stressed the importance of strengthening economic relations between the two emerging centers by adopting a non-ideological approach towards China, in which we accept that the countries are led in different ways but must find common interests.
During his speech, PM Orbán paid tribute to the seventy years of diplomatic relations between Hungary and China, and that economic relations between the Central European region and China is a success story of the new era.
With reference to the central bank conference – in which the region’s sixteen countries were joined for the first time by China – he said that it is no longer enough to seek cooperation in the fields of investment and trade but there must also be cooperation in the field of finance.
