As a result of the Ukrainian energy threat, I’ve had to call an extraordinary economic meeting. By shutting down natural gas and oil supplies from Russia, Brussels is determined to help the Ukrainians – even at the cost of ruining Hungarian and European families. This will mean 800 billion forints in extra expenditure for Hungary – the same amount that’s spent on the reductions in household energy bills. This is the extent to which we support Hungarian families every year. If this were to happen, an electricity bill which is now 7,000 forints could rise to 14,000 forints, and a gas bill which is now 16,000 forints could rise to 54,000 forints. Incidentally, from September you will see these numbers on your bills. The only way to prevent this is for the Hungarian government to block the European Union’s decision in Brussels – and this is only possible with your support. So it’s important that you all vote in “Voks2025”, sending back your ballot papers if you haven’t already done so. This is a crucial issue for every Hungarian family.
