Minister Nagy said the ministers were asking EU decision makers to protect local farmers from an "unrestricted flood" of Ukrainian farm products.
Minister Nagy argued that cheap produce entering the EU "without controls" further weakened Europe's competitiveness.
The unlimited inflow of grain and food products, mainly poultry, eggs and honey, from Ukraine makes the situation worse by creating uneven competition for European farmers and consumers.
Minister Nagy said that Hungary’s EU presidency would strive for a productive working relationship with partners by holding large international conferences.
