The Hungarian government has decided to continue last year's system under which farmers can use water from state-run providers to water their crops free of charge.
The agriculture minister expressed hope that the war in Ukraine would end as soon as possible with a “reassuring” resolution.
Crop prices declined 26.5% as grain prices plunged 39.0% and oilseed prices were down 48.4%.
“Our countries fully stand by Ukraine and provide all the necessary support in these difficult times, but this cannot mean that our farmers pay the price of the war,” they said.
István Nagy said the EU has accepted the measures introduced by member states that banned Ukrainian agricultural products after a unilateral decision.
