Press statement by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán following a Hungarian–Georgian government summit

The two leaders reviewed the current situation of Hungarian-Georgian economic and trade relations and explored possibilities to develop them.
The pair made preparations for a summit of the Hungarian and Georgian governments set to be held in Hungary in June.
Zsolt Németh said PACE ratified the Georgian delegation’s credentials with 113 votes in favor, 13 against and 7 abstentions.
The prime minister said Georgia was ready for EU membership and should be allowed to join as soon as possible.
The House Speaker said he was convinced that cooperation would help to advance Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration.

Cooperation between Hungary and Georgia has steadily developed in recent years, including in the energy, pharmaceutical and food industry sectors.
Minister Szijjártó said on Facebook that "dozens of European Union countries simply don't understand that democracy is about the will of the people" and not "appointed from Brussels".
Hungary's government is prepared to develop cooperation with Georgia based on mutual respect and support the European integration process, Minister Szijjártó said in a post on Facebook.
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has been invited by Irakli Kobakhidze, Georgia's prime minister.
The foreign minister said the Hungarian government will continue to promote Georgia’s EU integration “with all its might” and will do everything to forward the process during Hungary’s current EU presidency.
Discussions included the possible role of Georgia in the development of an energy corridor linking the Caucasus region with Europe.
