An extended state of emergency is needed to handle the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the war in Ukraine and to tackle the economic consequences.

Minister Varga said talks between Hungary and the European Commission on the package of judicial reforms are focused on a narrow set of political issues and are now “in the home stretch”.
The EC said in a statement that Hungary is “committed to remedying the deficiencies” in judicial independence as its recovery and resilience plan includes reforms aimed at strengthening the independence of the judiciary.
In line with a request by the European Union, Hungary will clarify the jurisdictions of various judicial branches.
