The defense minister said Hungary recognized the need to rebuild its defense capabilities and embark on a comprehensive military development program.

Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky said an increasing number of member states aimed to meet the NATO requirement of spending at least 2% of their GDP on defense.
Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky said Hungary had a vested interest in the political and economic stability of south-eastern Europe because it contributes to the security of Hungary and Europe.
Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky said a “new Jewish renaissance” is underway in Hungary.
Hungary has procured altogether 44 Leopard tanks to be delivered by 2028.
Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky said wages are increasing by an average of 11% from January 2024 but it may vary depending on the category of staff.
The defense minister said Hungary will continue to work towards fulfilling its objective to build a top-notch, technically advanced military force.
Minister Szalay-Bobrovniczky called the event “a historic milestone” in the Hungarian army’s development program.
