The foreign minister said the inauguration of Croatia’s LNG terminal on the island of Krk is an important step forward in securing Hungary’s gas supply.
Hungary’s purchase of Azeri gas had been made possible by the near completion of the southern gas corridor and Azerbaijan’s increase of its gas output.
Hungary could take delivery of an annual 10 billion cubic meters of gas across the Serbian border through the TurkStream pipeline.
The foreign minister said that starting from 2021, Hungary expects to receive an annual 9.8 billion cubic meters of gas through the TurkStream pipeline.
The Foreign Minister has highlighted that Hungary will be able to purchase Liquefied Natural Gas from Qatar, following the completion of Croatia’s LNG terminal in January 2021.
The Hungarian Energy & Utilities Regulatory Agency revealed that the average price came to EUR 3.16 per kilowatt, marking a new record across the 28 European member states.
Minister Szijjártó highlighted that the security of Hungary's gas supply is a national security and national strategic issue.
“Hungary’s gas supplies from Russia have been secured by the agreements signed today,” Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said.
“We are interested in having a reliable cooperation with Gazprom that guarantees the energy safety of the country,” Minister Szíjjártó said
The foreign minister said that in the future Hungarian-Bulgarian economic relations will be centered around energy supply
