Talks will close today on the timeframe for the upgrade of Hungary’s sole nuclear plant at Paks with executives of Rosatom, the general contractor for the project.
The project of building two new blocks to the Paks nuclear power plant is being implemented as planned so that they be able to start operations in 2029-2030.
Parties at the talks were in agreement that the two new reactor blocks under construction in Paks guaranteed Hungary’s continued supply of cheap and climate-friendly electricity.
Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev has visited the Paks nuclear power plant to inspect progress on the site upgrade.
The plant will be the first of many to provide much needed energy to parts of the region and each is capable of providing electricity for 250-400 households
