The two politicians' discussion had a special emphasis on the protection of children against gender ideology.
Hungary needs to protect its independence and the “pro-peace position against the Biden administration and Brussels," the prime minister said.
The prime minister met with Wang Yi, the director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party, for a private dinner on Sunday.
Pressure posed by migration is rising and is slowly becoming “unbearable” for the bloc’s western members as well, the prime minister said.
“From what the Ukrainian president said, it’s clear this war will drag on. We can’t count on it ending soon,” PM Orban said, adding that Hungary would continue to aid Ukrainians by humanitarian means but “we won’t deliver weapons”.
“Finally! Dear Ursula von der Leyen, dear Manfred Weber, welcome to the club!… We’ve been fighting for stronger borders for 10 years. As it turned out we Hungarians have been right all along,” PM Orbán said.
The prime minister said the two countries have decided to strengthen cooperation because the international environment “is more dangerous than ever”.
According to the prime minister, the Hungarian position is clear: Hungarian people want their voices to be heard in Brussels, too.
The two politicians discussed bilateral relations and topical international affairs at a working dinner.
“Glad to see that facts still matter!” PM Orbán said on Twitter in reaction to Monday’s verdict by the Prague Municipal Court.
PM Orbán recalled his private audience with the pope in 2010, saying the talks on faith, the sanctity of family and of the protection of “our common Christian roots” had shaped his views since.
The prime minister said: “Hungary’s government is supporting Ukraine and has a vested interest in its sovereignty and we have an interest in Russia not posing a threat to Europe’s security, we have no interest in severing all economic ties with Russia."
