Two Portuguese men were arrested after 14 kg of heroin was found hidden in two suitcases when they arrived in Budapest

A stash of heroin worth a street value of 211,000,000 HUF has been seized at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International airport.

According to reports, two Portuguese men were arrested after 14 kg of heroin was found hidden in two suitcases.

According to MTI, the men flew from Kenya via Zurich and suspicions were raised when their suitcases were scanned. Glue residue was also found on the cases which was used to created fake compartments to carry the drugs.

Reports state that when the men arrived in Budapest they headed through the green corridor of the A/2 terminal, pretending that they had nothing to declare.

However, the National Tax and Customs Administration officers examined their belongings and the drugs were found. A formal investigation is now underway, and the two men are set to face charges in the coming days.
