The Hungarian film industry is going from strength to strength.
A whopping 349 million euros was spent on film productions in Hungary last year, data from Hungary’s National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) show.
The figures show that spending was up from 108.2 billion forints in 2017, but didn’t match the 125.4 billion forints in 2016.
What's more, about 84 percent of the spending last year was by foreign filmmakers.
NMHH data shows that a total of 333 films were made in Hungary in 2018, including 245 Hungarian films, 84 foreign films and four co-productions.
The tax rebate on film production was raised from 25 percent to 30 percent last year, which has helped build Hungary into one of the world's leading film centers.
